Sparrow Enterprises Ltd. was founded in 1924 as a partnership of two gentlemen with good chocolate industry backgrounds. They named the firm for themselves, Sparrow and Meins Chocolate Co., and located their facility in Boston. For many years their clientele consisted almost exclusively of small candy manufacturers. The product line was established in dark and milk chocolate coating (couverture) plus slab liquor chocolate. They also sold small quantities of cocoa powder, usually of Dutch origin.
The heirs of the partners sold the business to Mr. John Baybutt in 1959. The latter furthered the line by adding bakery supplies, while maintaining a presence in chocolate items.
The company started adding imported chocolates to their product selection in the late 1980's. They now represent a large assortment of both domestic and imported chocolates. These include: Callebaut, Valrhona, El Rey, Wilbur, Blommer, Schokinag, Cote d'Or, Cafe Tasse, Domori, Dagoba, Mademoiselle de Margeux, Scharffen Berger, and Guittard.
To compliment their good position in chocolates, Sparrow has many other products to serve the baking industries. For a complete list of products, please see our product list.
Sparrow welcomes your questions on the above information and hopes to serve your requirements as time goes on.
