Since 1928, Chocolates El Rey, or "the KING OF CHOCOLATE", has been manufacturing chocolate in Venezuela.
It is one of the only companies which actually makes chocolate in the same location where the cacao bean is grown.
Many feel that the cocoa beans grown in Venezuela are the most flavorful - with descriptions such as earthy, fruity and aromatic.
The cocoa beans used by El Rey come from the Carenero region of Venezuela, and the names refer to trees which shade the cocoa groves.
El Rey uses only Criollo and Trinitario beans in their chocolates. The third variety, Forestero, is the choice bean for Africa growers
as it is more disease resistant, easier to grow and is used by larger manufacturing
companies. The criollo bean is known for it's acidic flavor and tends to be a harder tree to grow.

Discos
These quarter-sized wafers are an easy alternative to the block chocolates from El Rey. Easy to weigh and no chopping required! They are the exact same formulations, but in disc form. The discos come in boxes of 5KG or 11 lbs.
This extra bitter disco has been manufactured utilizing only the famed Carenero Superior bean. This 70% dark is an El Rey favorite of chefs and dark chocolate lovers. (11 lbs/box)
This white chocolate is named after a legendary Indian maiden. It has a truly unique flavor among whites, enhanced by the use of undeoderized cocoa butter (35%).
This 73% extra dark couverture, has a similar flavor profile to the famed Gran Saman, but it has additional cocoa butter, which adds to the creamy texture. It comes in 5kg boxes (11 lbs) of chocolate in disc form.
The 61% dark couverture has a similar flavor profile to the Bucare (58.5%), but has added cocoa butter to create a pleasing variation with greater fluidity.
